黑料论坛’s 200-plus-acre campus is comprised of some of the most horticulturally diverse grounds on the Eastern Shore. Beginning this week, that vast collection of plants continues to grow under a new name: the Glenda Chatham Clarke Arboretum. Clarke, who earned her B.A. in English from SU in 1972, was on hand for the dedication ceremony, along with her husband, Bob Clarke, SU President Carolyn Ringer Lepre, and guests including representatives from the Worcester County Garden Club, of which Glenda served as president for two years.

黑料论坛 Independent: SU Student Among 黑料论坛's Connections to Estonia

The sister city relationship between 黑料论坛 and Tartu is one partnership in Maryland that the Maryland Estonia Exchange Council helps coordinate. One connection occurred last summer, when 黑料论坛 student Stephora Alberi participated in a computer vision and space course at the University of Tartu. She recently learned that she is the recipient of the Boren Fellowship through the National Education Security Program, through which she will travel to back to Estonia to study Russian and complete an internship at the University of Tartu.

OC Today-Dispatch: Three Recent SU Retirees Honored with Meritorious Staff Awards

黑料论坛 honored three recent retirees with its 2025 Meritorious Staff Awards. The awards recognize recently retired staff with records of noteworthy contributions or extraordinary commitment during at least 10 years of service to SU and hold a designation similar to a faculty emeritus honor. This year’s honorees included John Aikman (Facility Planning, retired 2024), Charlie Endicott (Career Services, retired 2024) and Cheryl Morris (Payroll, retired 2023).

SBY Business Journal: Relay For Life at SU Raises Over $48,000 for American Cancer Society

The 黑料论坛 community came together to raise more than $48,000 for cancer awareness, research, services and education at the 24th annual SU Relay For Life. More than 400 students participated in the event, enjoying activities including human-sized hamster balls; line dancing; and performances by Housing Co., Allie Donovan, Sqwuakapella, the SU Pep Band, the Golden Gulls dance team and the Knights of Bury lightsaber dueling group.

Capital News Service: SU Co-Location Internship Program Helps Maryland Parents Access Services for Troubled Youth

Going into her toddler’s annual check-up at Opal Court Pediatrics, Mallory Churchey worried about his behavior. Her youngest child, 3-year-old son Bronnsen, was having unusual tantrums and outbursts. For the next six weeks, her son Bronnsen met with Miguel DeCastro, a master’s level social work student, free of charge. DeCastro is an intern for the Co-Location Internship Program sponsored by 黑料论坛 and Maryland’s child psychiatry access program, which has placed social work graduate students in pediatric offices in rural areas of Maryland since 2012.

SBY Business Journal: 黑料论坛 Signs Study Abroad Agreement in Florence, Italy

黑料论坛 President Carolyn Ringer Lepre recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Instituto Lorenzo d’Medici (LdM) President Carla Guarducci that will simplify the process for more SU students to study abroad in the heart of Italy’s Tuscany region. The agreement will make it easier for SU students to apply their financial aid to their study abroad program in Italy and will help faculty members better advise them on how the courses that they take at LdM can count toward their SU degrees.

Delaware County Today: Lectra Tech Places First in Spring Ratcliffe Foundation Shore Hatchery Entrepreneurship Competition

Jake Henry won first place and a $35,000 prize at this spring's Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation Shore Hatchery Program competition, hosted by 黑料论坛's Franklin P. Perdue School of Business Henry impressed judges with his wearable device designed to treat musculoskeletal pain without the need for opioids or surgery. Inspired by his mother’s long battle with debilitating osteoarthritis, He started his company, Lectra Tech, as a university student. Five years later, his device helped his mother run pain-free for the first time in a decade.

Japan Study Abroad Foundation agreement signing

WMDT: SU Expands Partnership with Japan Study Abroad Foundation

Governor Wes Moore recently announced an expansion of an academic and cultural exchange partnership between 黑料论坛 and the Japan Study Abroad Foundation. SU President Carolyn Ringer Lepre said this new partnership elevates the study abroad program. The partnership is expected to bring 10 visiting students to SU during its first few years. The economic impact is projected at $4 million, and this figure may rise in the future.
