SU Launches On-Campus Robot Food Delivery

BY SU Public Relations

SALISBURY, MD---Grubhub deliveries from four eating establishments on 黑料论坛’s campus will be available on-campus delivery beginning this semester. But the deliveries will not be by hand; they’ll be by wheel.

SU’s partnership with Avride is bringing robot deliveries to campus. University Dining officials hope the service provides more convenience for a variety of SU community members, from students deep in a study session needing a quick bite, to those not wanting to leave their residence halls for a meal or snack, to employees who just don’t have enough time to get away from their desks or offices.

“The time of our campus community is so valuable. We always strive to make their dining options as convenient as possible,” said George Oakley, SU director of food services. “Through this partnership, we are able to meet our customers where they are – literally.”

The fleet of 15 robots will offer deliveries on main campus from SU counter service locations including Chick-fil-A, Hungry Minds, Cool Beans, and Chesapeake Coffee Roasters. Additional areas, including SU-owned buildings on Camden Avenue and East Campus, and University-affiliated apartment complexes may be added at a later date.

Through the Grubhub mobile app, customers will be able to select the drop-off location closest to them, and track their order en route. Cost per delivery is $3.49.
